The 1oz Spanish Bull is the second 1oz bullion coin released by The Royal Mint of Spain as part of the Spanish Doubloon series.
The Spanish Bull is a 24 carat coin, containing a pure gold content of 31.1 grams. The coin has a face value of €1.50. However, the actual value of the coin, due to the gold content within it, is much higher.
The obverse of the coin depicts two globes, which represent the Western and Eastern hemispheres, underneath a crown with the Pillars of Hercules at each side. Details of the gold content and size of the coin are written in Spanish along the bottom of the coin.
The reverse of the coin displays the Spanish fighting Bull, which is an animal that is a quintessential symbol of both Spanish heritage and culture. This animal is often associated with bullfighting, which is a famous tradition in Spain. This side of the coin contains the Madrid mintmark, the face value (€1.50) and the words ‘Toro’ which is Spanish for Bull.
