The 1oz Spanish Carthusian Horse gold coin is part of the Spanish Doubloon series. This coin is the third bullion coin to be issued by The Royal Mint of Spain.
The Spanish Carthusian Horse l is a 24 carat coin, containing a pure gold content of 31.1 grams. The coin has a face value of €1.50. However, the actual value of the coin, due to the gold content within it, is much higher.
The obverse of the coin depicts two globes, which represent the Western and Eastern hemispheres, underneath a crown with the Pillars of Hercules at each side. Details of the gold content and size of the coin are written in Spanish along the bottom of the coin. The reverse of the coin shows the Andalusian Horse, which is a breed of horse that is native to the Iberian Peninsula. The recurring Madrid mintmark and face value (€1.50) are also displayed next to the words Carballo Cartujano which is the Spanish for Carthusian Spanish Horse.
